I was thinking about writing this post on band promotion since i be familiar with new bands and struggling musicians wishing they were more paying gigs. Getting a paying gig is good, I mean… you spend a lot of time, energy as well as funds on getting your act together.. rehearsing, touring rehearsals and gigs (gas is usually a pain in the event you travel by car), buying your gear, etc. But earning money gigs for new acts can be extremely difficult.
As i still find it great to have paid, I don’t mean to state you should think of a band like a business. What I am saying is, it could be practical to at least have your costs covered.
Of course, that will depend on you and the logic behind why you’re in a band in the first place.
Some bands wish to play; love to play; believe that playing and becoming their music around is the greatest compensation there is… and the return of the investment in effort, time and cash is the fact that possibility to wake up there and PLAY.
