The Poly Macau Art Auction has held again until today in the Regency Art Hotel. The kinds include Chinese and Asian Contemporary and modern Art, Fine Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Chinese Ceramics and Artwork and also Jewels and Prestige Collections.

Masterpieces of Chinese modern art maestros will be displayed to represent the most important developments of Chinese contemporary art history, including Wu Guangzhong’s “Snowscape in Beijing”, which is estimated for sale at HKD14 million around HKD28 million.

Other considerations like Chinese ceramics and artworks, including those in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, bronzes, lacquers, Buddhism figures, and fine stationery will be up for auction.

A Cloisonne-Enamel Ram Vessel, Zun, estimated being worth between HKD3.2 million to HKD4.5 million is also available to buy by interested collectors.
This can be the second Poly Macau Art Auction, pursuing the first auction organized captured.

Sabrina Ho, director of Poly Macau and Casino tycoon daughter and Angela Leong, declared the big event is co-organized by Poly Macau and Chiu Yeng Culture. “I hope that the series of cultural events [organized through the two companies] will bring to Macau new aspects which will allow to remain the diversification from the economy,” said Ho, who also expects that artists and art collectors worldwide will continue to support Macau as a possible art platform.

“We will continue to bring Macau more diversified cultural activities, and [will support] Macau to develop itself as a global art platform,” said Ho and “hopefully that Macau can become a well- known art capital later on.”

Regency Hotel opened in 1983 and possesses suffered with past business closures. Ho, however, hopes to change it into an art form hotel. “In Macau, there could be many resplendent big hotels, however the number of hotels which can be utilized for art or even some creational events is, in fact, not too great,” said Ho.

At present, Regency Hotel is not running any casinos, which, according to Ho, produces a different atmosphere in comparison with other hotels. She also thinks that guests keeping this hotel are more “private.”

The “6075 Macau Hotel Art Fair” will be held in the Regency Hotel until November 27. A total of 60 exhibition halls will be arranged to show artworks from 60 artists born after 1975.

Ho claims that only a number of hotels are willing to provide young people rooms and invite young people to style the rooms for the children.
